I had delayed posting this because I was hoping to provide visual aids for this post, but getting me, a digital camera and this weblog in one place at one time is apparently well outside my skillset.
So here is the deal: we have three 32-gallon trash cans half-filled with the little, gravelly detritus left from pulverizing our old walk. This stuff didn't get hauled away because, at the time, said trash cans were filled with bigger pieces. Now they are filled with what appears to be a bunch of Fritos made out of cement.
My challenge to all you inventive readers: find ways for me to reduce, reuse and recycle these concrete chips. Otherwise, I'll be tossing a handful in the trash can each week for the next ten years. I would really rather not call Blue Sky Hauling again.
Please share suggestions below. Or tell me what you'll be reusing, reducing and/or recycling this month!
Oddly enough, one of my relatives is in the concrete recycling business. He takes extra concrete from construction sites, crushes it up, and sells it to road construction companies to use as part of the road bed.
Anyway, you may want to try these guys: http://www.cdrecycling.org/find.html
And see if one of their contacts can either pick up your stuff or tell you who can.

Bury it as a deeper layer under landscaping you want to have really good drainage?

Use it like gravel for a pathway?

Have you tried giving it away for free on Craigslist? Someone who needs filler or gravel for a building project of some kind might be thrilled to take it away for free. I see fill dirt and gravel on there all the time.
Or, get some new concrete as glue and a chicken-wire frame and sculpt it into a birdbath or something.
