"The good news continues with the WSJ reporting that the total values recouped from remodeling are sliding too."

Ahh, the delicious irony of reading this the morning that my bathroom renovation is starting. I can only hope that this isn't true in the UK too.

Of course, even if it is, my new bathroom is going to look AMAZING, so I kind of don't care.

Thought of you and your CA readers when I saw this site: Professor Piggington's Eco-Almanac for the Landed Poor. I can't get my head around real estate so I can't assess the quality but maybe it's useful to someone, if you haven't already seen it.

So funny! Rich (aka Professor Piggington) is actually a college buddy of Phil's and intermittent Teevee contributor. I sat next to him at Boychuk's wedding.

Small world ...

Ex-Monkey Ben

Piggington is first-rate. The man has done his research and he will be able to buy and sell all of us some day ... likely soon. And I say that in spite of the fact that I lived with him during my freshman and sophomore years of college. ("Piggington" is an apt name, believe me.)

Rich would probably scold you and Phil for the deal you made. But he would also tell you not to worry too much. It's bad for your health. And in your case, "buy and hold" are words to live by.

Hope all is well otherwise. We owe you a visit, I think.

Yes, yes, you do.

We're looking at Pie Fight Club for Sunday, March, 18. BE THERE.

(And yeah ... we are never leaving this house. For one, I still don't feel like I've fully amortized the cost of the bathroom yet.)

Ugh, we are three weeks into a complete bathroom renovation. As in, everything torn out and replaced, down to the lathe and (surprise! we didn't realize that was there) adobe block floor.

It's too bad that returns on renovations are diminishing, but I can't look back as we really had no choice. The room was a Frankenstein's monster of past mismatched renovations (who puts a cream-colored faux marble sink into a bathroom with a white porcelain sink & tub?) (and I'm not even going to start on the four varieties of tile, including plastic) and had terrible mildrew and mold to boot.
