I had thought that Vogue's tie-in site easing readers into ordering clothing from its Sept issue advertisers was pretty canny (https://www.shopseptembervogue.com/), but the new men's shopping magazine, Vitals, actually does the shopping for you. ("This Magazine Even Carries the Bags," NYT, Aug 30, 04)
It'll be interesting to see how -- or if -- this even shapes the shopping-mag field. Although I'm still not sold on Shop, etc., I do think their site's done a great job of pushing the editorial mandate ("Buy stuff!") by referencing print features and making it easy to order online when compared to Lucky's site; I'm curious to see if e-commerce and interactivity will have a greater effect on the way shopping mags approach their print and digital products.
