So I'm reading today's NYT piece, "This Land Is Whose Land? 2 Magazines, 2 Answers," about two distinctly different publications hoping to tap into our lifestyle patriotism, when this quote describing American Magazineleaped out at me:
"We are focusing on a magazine that features the best of life in America. It is the family version of America, sort of a `Chicken Soup for the Soul' that comes out every other month."
To me, any passage expositing on "the best of life in America" does not contain the phrase "Chicken Soup for the Soul" unless the words "merciless erasure from the cultural fabric thereof" are involved too.
So you can see where my confusion lays. And maybe get why I won't be picking this up, even out of morbid curiosity.
